My laptop has been restored and is back in my grubby little hands!!
(although now I must ponder how lost I felt without it, because I had no idea I was so dependent)

Heh. I was a munchkin in 5th grade.
I don't know if you're dependent on the laptop as much as you needed it for certain tasks. If you didn't have to blog daily, I suspect the whole thing would've been much less frustrating.
