just in case you see me at the zen center with a dumbassed look on my face

I've had a few different teachers pass along meditation instruction over the years, and no matter the school or style, the general gist for what to do when thoughts arise has been pretty much the same across the board:

notice it, then come back

Okay. I can practice that.
Except that for the past few weeks, when I notice the thoughts doing their thing, and I practice "coming back", I am actually hearing the words "come back" SPOKEN inside my head, but in the voice of that creepy lady at the end of the Haunted Mansion Ride at Disneyland!

Sometimes it weirds me out....but mostly I have to try real hard not to giggle.
